Martin Zender |
Martin
is a spiritual seeker, just like you. He has sampled the religious
institutions of men and found them unable to contain the greatness of
God. At the age of 19 Martin bought his own copy of the Bible, and began
to seek for himself. On his Web site,
www.martinzender.com, you will find some of the answers he has found
over the past twenty-four years.
How does Martin identify
himself? In a nutshell, like this: "I believe in Jesus Christ as my
personal Savior, I just don't belong to the fan club that claims to own
the franchise on Him." He is the author of six books on spiritual
freedom, including How to Quit Church without Quitting God, How to Be
Free From Sin While Smoking a Cigarette, and Martin Zender Goes to Hell. |

THE PURPOSE OF
THE ARMOR OF GOD
If you think the armor of God, described in Ephesians, chapter 6, is
meant to defend you against Satan's frontal attacks, then you are
battling Satan on his ground and are wearing yourself out
unnecessarily. Why defend against Satan's frontal attacks when God
Himself inspires these so that you can 1) be humbled, 2) learn
patience, 3) overcome stuff, and 4) suffer evil for the evangel?
With such great wealth available to your through overcoming Satan's
insidious incursions into your life, why would you want
protected from these? You wouldn't. And here's another thing:
Christians spend more time defending what they can't lose than
realizing what they have. So if the armor is not for Satan's
frontal attacks, then what is it for? The last italicized sentence
should give you a clue. I'll give you more than a clue at the
Retreat! Satan won't like this message, but you are going to love
it.

HOW TO BE AT
PEACE WITH NOT BEING AT PEACE
This ranks as one of the most helpful truths I've ever discovered.
One day, I noticed what looked to be a contradiction in God's Word.
In 2 Cor. 4:8, Paul wrote that he was "perplexed, but not
despairing." And yet, in this same letter (2 Cor. 1:8), he told of
how he was so afflicted in Asia that he and his companions,
"despaired of life." How could Paul be despairing of life but not
despairing at the same time? I soon found two more "contradictions"
just like this one. I wrestled with it for a week before the
revelation hit: Oh, my gosh! Paul refused to despair over his
despair! We experience most of our trouble trying to rid
ourselves of trouble, and we lose most of our peace wondering, "where
is my peace?" What if, in this life, we're supposed to be at peace
with not being at peace? This is truly life-changing truth,
and I'll give you the details in October.
-
THE RENEWAL OF
THE MIND
Our minds are always being steered by something: the news, the
weather, business concerns, the needs of our family. Since the mind
will always be steered anyway, why not take the wheel and steer it
ourselves? This is no free will message, but an invitation to
consciously wrest the mind away from negative thoughts and onto
positive ones. Sound like a New Age message? Far from it! The
apostle Paul tells us exactly what we ought to be thinking
about. I will relay these things to you, along with several mind
tricks I've taught myself - based on Paul's teaching - that pull me out
of bad moods. (One trick involves picturing God and Christ in
sunglasses.) This October, I will bring you examples, not only from
scripture and my own experience, but from science, popular cinema,
and a little-known Mark Twain essay - to show you the power of the
mind.

The God of History (God)
Is
Scripture subservient to history, or is history subservient to
Scripture? Is God reacting to events that happen in the world or is
He operating all events? Are details important? Overview of the
Hebrew and Greek Scriptures: Their importance and order.
-
His Calling, Allotment and Power (Lord Jesus Christ)
Do
the Scriptures speak of an "inheritance" or and "allotment?" What is
the role of Christ in God's Eonian Purpose? When we put Christ in
His scriptural place, everything else will fall in line.
-
Our Calling, Allotment and Power (Us)
What
is our role in God's Eonian Purpose? When we put the body of Christ
in its scriptural place, we will know where we are and what our
marching orders are.

Nothing Will Be Lost
Is the Creator wasteful? Has He brought His creation into existence
just to abandon it to a "Christless eternity"? No! God is the true
Savior of His own creation, and nothing will be lost. The
realization of this truth about the true nature of our Father will
completely change the way we look at Him and everyone around us.
-
Habitat for Divinity
Where on earth is God? We all know where He was in "times
past." He was in the Eden's garden with Adam. He was in Israel's
Temple. But where is He today? The acknowledgment of His present
dwelling place will have a radical impact upon the believer's life.
-
God's Outsiders
Where does the believer who follows God fit in today's
religions? To which denomination or church should we belong? This is
a look at our Apostle's last words as found in the book of II
Timothy. Understanding this letter of Paul is essential to knowing
how to walk as "a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the
Master's use, and prepared unto every good work."
